Workshop

The Art of Trees

Tuesdays & Thursdays

This workshop gives pupils in KS1&2 the chance to create work inspired by the beauty of the Welbeck estate.

The visit will begin with a trip to the Harley Gallery to see the work of Anthony Whishaw, Mark Frith and Effie Burns. Pupils will see a range of original artworks themed around trees, and will be inspired to head outside and create their own tree art.

Using trees near our purpose-built Education Studio, pupils will have a go at sketching challenges and bark rubbing, before returning inside to create a mixed media painting in the style of Anthony Whishaw.

By participating in this workshop, pupils will:

  • Improve their mastery of drawing techniques. (Art & Design Curriculum for KS2).
  • Learn about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines (Art & Design Curriculum for KS1)
  • Learn to use a range of materials creatively to design and make products (Art & Design Curriculum for KS1)

We can also build in links to support your learning on trees and plants in Science, just ask when booking.
