Kyra Cane

A close up of a pot by ceramicicst Kyra Cane

Kyra Cane is a successful potter who has also been a lecturer in ceramics and drawing since 1986.

She makes renowned fine porcelain pots. These often feature a painterly black-and-white finish, which she applies by hand after the initial biscuit firing.

Her work can be found in prestigious collections, and her commissions include pieces for the Royal Suite in the Dorchester Hotel, London, large-scale bespoke pots for some of the most luxurious cruise ships in the world, and pieces for the famous Shangri-La Hotel, The Shard, London.

She is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain and a selected member of Contemporary Applied Arts. Kyra Cane is now the Chair of the board of trustees for the Craft Pottery Charitable Trust.

She combined this with an academic career until 2010, teaching, leading the Harrow Ceramics degree course at the University of Westminster and examining at a range of institutions until 2017. She currently teaches a range of part-time courses at West Dean College in West Sussex and acts as a mentor and advisor to a range of organisations.

Recently she collaborated with Villa Nova, part of the international textile company ‘Romo’. This project developed a new and innovative collection of textiles and wallcoverings.

Kyra teaches in the Pottery Studio and her work is available to buy from the Gallery Shop.
