Ashi Marwaha

We have exhibited and sold Ashi’s sculptural jewellery for over 20 years. Based in Lincoln, she was born in Tanzania to Indian parents, and her work reflects her cultural heritage. Ashi engineers 3D designs which are rooted in the architecture of India’s stunning monuments and palaces. The geometry of the structural arches, the complex details of decorative ceilings, windows and screens, provide inspiration for her work.

Made in silver with accents of semi-precious gems such as carnelian, coral, and quartz, Ashi’s pieces have a distinct bold style. They are often tactile, and sometimes have a hidden surprise. For instance, her necklaces feature pearls trapped inside a 3D geometric silver domes which rattle and tinkle when worn.

“My work starts with a straight and solid silver wire which I take on a journey into its new form. I don’t specifically draw my designs; they evolve from looking at sketches and paintings I make in my sketchbook. Often complex patterns of architectural geometry which I then simplify as I work with the silver wire.
