Becca Macdonald

Award winning Becca Macdonald is a Bradford based, self-taught jeweller with a unique approach to making. From her riverside studio, she paints with metal to create statement pieces that capture a unique moment in time; the simple line of a brushstroke, or a splash of paint as it drops to the floor.

“I’ve always been drawn to fluid movement and organic forms, and I love the idea of freezing and preserving the beauty in a fleeting moment. Initially my design career was heading down a sculptural path before I found a passion for jewellery making. I combine these interests and consider my pieces as small and unique wearable sculptures.”

Becca makes her jewellery with silver clay, a material which behaves like clay but magically transforms into solid silver after it is torch fired. “I let the capability of the material guide the design. The exact shapes and textures can never be recreated the same again, meaning every piece of jewellery is beautifully unique. These are wearable strokes of pure silver straight from my paintbrush.”
