Ellen’s gorgeous miniature figurines have recently joined the shelves of the Harley Gallery shop and are proving to be a hit. From tiny dapper gents and stylishly dressed ladies, to comical cats and dogs, each design is an original, hand-decorated with its own individual personality.

Ellen is based in Whitstable on the East Kent Coast and with a background in textile design, she uses techniques including brush work and sgraffito to achieve a bold, graphic quality to her pieces.

Each piece starts life on the potter’s wheel, with just a few small details being modelled on later such as arms, hair and little doggy ears. These forms are then made into final products with the very best being used to make handmade plaster moulds for slip casting in small batches.

Ellen aims to create playful, colourful pieces which bring a little bit of joy. Perfect on their own, or in couples, crowds, packs, or clowders (a group of cats!).
