Treat yourself or a friend to a little extra sparkle and Christmas joy this year with a special heirloom decoration, handcrafted in glass.
Ichendorf takes its name from a small town near Cologne, where the glassware brand was founded at the beginning of the 20th century. Their initial creations were ornate, reflecting the decadent tastes of the era. During the 1990s, the German-based enterprise moved to Italy’s creative hub, Milan where the company remains true to its relentless pursuit of creating high-quality glassware using time-honoured techniques.
Ichendorf collaborates with award-winning designers and art studios, and we fell in love with the work of one of their youngest designers Alessandra Baldereschi whose quirky sculptural tableware features animal and botanical designs. From tiny sea creatures captured in drinking tumblers, to birds sitting atop of teapots, her brilliant designs have been a huge hit since we introduced them to our shelves last year.
This is the first year that we have sold Alessandra’s handmade Christmas decorations. Full of festive spirit, each bauble is expertly made and robust enough to last generations of family Christmas trees. Each is sold boxed and ready to be gifted to someone special. We had a great time selecting our favourite designs for the shop this year and naturally the bear in a bauble was the top of our list to sit alongside our exhibition Helen Oxenbury: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Other Adventures.
