We are delighted to welcome Kate back to the Harley Gallery, with a new collection of gloriously glazed wall-hung ceramic pineapples. ‘Pineapples are a symbol of friendship and hospitality, and the intent of these pieces is to convey a spirit of joy and celebration.’
In 2007 Kate undertook a residency in our artist studios, taking inspiration from the Portland Collection Museum. She was particularly interested in the history of Welbeck’s great Victorian kitchen gardens, which produced 1000s of fruit varieties, the most expensive and exotic being pineapples. This research led to an exhibition in the Harley Gallery, A Natural Obsession.
Kate continues to exhibit, and her work is collected internationally, she is one of the UK’s most acclaimed and popular ceramic artists. She has work in public and private art collections including 10 Downing Street and the Victoria and Albert Museum. She was the first expert judge on Channel 4’s Great Pottery Throwdown.
