Founded by Anne-Laure Macon and Marie Lesquoy in 2009, French brand, Macon & Lesquoy are makers of embroidered jewellery full of colour, bold humour and eccentricity. Their collections are inspired by the trips they have made together, from Russia to Japan, Rwanda to American and India. The colours and encounters they saw have inspired many beautiful designs.
These tiny, hand embroidered jewels are inspired by the precision and quality of royal and military decorations. They are made using the ‘Cannetille’ technique, which originated in the 18th century. It involves twisting fine gold or silver wires into delicate patterns, creating a lace-like appearance. Cannetille, was particularly popular during the Georgian and Victorian eras, adorning brooches, earrings, and other accessories.
This Cannetille, or bullion thread, is made in Pakistan, where the metal industry is still flourishing and Macon & Lesqouy work with a family-owned workshop where sixty sixty embroiders work exclusively, under social and safety conditions monitored by the two designers.
