Rachel Wood is a resident at the Harley Foundation Studios and teaches masterclasses at the Harley Pottery Studio.
Her tactile pots draw direct inspiration from the colors, shapes, and textures of the Derbyshire countryside. Made from stoneware clay, they are decorated with layers of slips and glazes to resemble painted landscapes.
With an international reputation built over 15 years of exhibiting and teaching at ceramic schools across Europe and the UK, Rachel is highly esteemed in her field. She is the only English recipient of both the Neue Keramik Award and the Diessen Ceramic Prize, two major ceramic awards in Germany.
“I hope each pot conveys its own spirit and character The marks on their surface; a dent, fingerprint, or rip, reflects my journey of exploration, just as a wrinkle or dimple depicts expression and character in a human face.”
