I grew up in London and while still in my teens, I won a place to study at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Who’d have thought, all these years later, my classical and contemporary dance training would inform the work I create today?

After leaving college, I performed in theatres up and down the country. Though passionate, I grew weary, for once the show was over, the work ceased to exist. My yearning to create work less ephemeral led me first to the clay, then jewellery and now I am back with a focus on clay in my everyday practice.

I work hard, but it rarely feels like work because I love the creative process. My passion drives me. It pleases me to know my hand-built ceramics and mixed media jewellery sell in shops and galleries in the UK, Europe and the USA.

I put in the hours at my trusty home studios in Grantham.

Aside from my creative practice, I’ve set up and run a number of successful, cutting-edge, contemporary craft galleries.

Dee also teaches ceramics at Leicester University and Loughborough University. She can be found in the Crafts Council Directory and is an associate member of The Craft Potters Association.
