Drop-in community art project

Make your own Storybook

Drop into our creative space
10am – 5pm / 4pm Sundays

This autumn, we are inviting you to roll our storytelling dice and create your own fantastical story.

This activity is inspired by our new exhibition, John Burningham’s Bedtime Stories. This exhibition shows the award-winning the work of children’s author and illustrator John Burningham. This name may be familiar from childhood classics like Borka: The Adventures of a Goose With No Feathers, Avocado Baby and as the illustrator of Ian Fleming’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Visit the creative space to have a go at writing or drawing your own terrific tale. If you’re stuck, our storytelling dice can help provide inspiration for your characters, plot and setting.

You’ll find blank storybooks ready to fill in with your ideas and colouring sheets perfect for small hands. Dive into our stationery stash and find all you need to be the next John Burningham.

We’d love to see your finished stories and hear about characters on social media. Make sure to tag us in your pictures!

This interactive space is a great opportunity to stretch your crafting skills and imagination whilst also celebrating the work of John Burningham.
