Family Clay: Woodland Wind Chimes

Get hands-on with clay in this woodland inspired session for children ages 7-16 and their parent or guardian.

You will learn

Learn new skills with your child and create a wind chime from clay. Take inspiration from the tree-themed exhibitions in the Harley Gallery to sculpt a woodland creature and oak leaf for your chime.

Techniques covered include:

Pinch pots
Sculpting animals
Joining clay
Using moulds

You will need

This session is for children aged 7-16 and their parent or guardian. No prior pottery experience is needed.

We recommend trimming long nails prior to the session, removing any jewellery, and tying back long hair.

Additional information

The session cost includes all materials, tools, clay and firing of your finished pieces.

We will contact you when your pots are ready to collect from our museum, this can take up to 6 weeks. If you haven’t heard from us within this time, please contact us.

If your child is confident working independently, you can make your own creation by purchasing additional clay during the session. Please note, that we only accept cash payments in our Pottery Studio.

Ruth Waller

This course is taught by Ruth Waller.

Ruth is half of the creative partnership Waller Hewett. Waller Hewett creates artwork and installations which combine art, design and craft, and has won them numerous awards including ‘Best in Show’ at the London Craft Fair.

She is a highly experienced tutor and teaches across the Harley Foundation’s education programme.

£12 per child

A Parent or Guardian must stay with their child at all times.

All participants are required to complete a short registration form on booking.
