Get hands-on with clay in our 2-session courses for children aged 7-16 and their parent or guardian. Each course will focus on a different project, which children will be encouraged to interpret in their own style.

Saturday 19 October + 2 November, 2pm – 3.30pm. As the nights draw in, cosy up in our pottery studio and sculpt a ceramic tree that can also be used as a tealight.

You will need
Family Clay is for children aged 7-16 and their parent or guardian, parents or guardians must stay with their child at all times. No prior pottery experience is needed.
We recommend trimming long nails prior to the session, removing any jewellery, and tying back long hair. Please bring your own aprons.
Additional information
The course cost includes all materials, tools and clay, plus glazing and firing of your finished pieces.
We will contact you when your pots are ready to collect from our museum, this can take up to 6 weeks. If you haven’t heard from us within this time, please contact us.
If your child is confident working independently, you can make your own creation by purchasing an ‘Accompanying Adult + Materials’ ticket rather than a free ‘Accompanying Adult’ ticket.
Ruth Waller
This course is taught by Ruth Waller.
Ruth is a contemporary textile artist and half of the creative partnership Waller Hewett. Waller Hewett create artwork and installations which combine art, design and craft, and have won them numerous awards including ‘Best in Show’ at the London Craft Fair.
She is a highly experienced tutor and teaches across the Harley Foundation’s education programme.
