Join us for a gallery talk in conversation with Serena Korda, the artist behind our exhibition Triple Goddess and Bryony Bond, Director of the Harley Foundation.
Serena Korda’s work is vibrant and bold, detailed and expressive. It is also closely linked to the act of feminist storytelling, taking society’s deeply ingrained stories of womanhood and reshaping them for a modern generation of women. Maidenhood, motherhood, menopause – all are represented amongst the stories of Serena’s work, as she challenges and questions the restrictions and pressures that society places on women.
Join us for this gallery talk to hear Serena discuss her broader feminist influences, as well as the personal life experiences behind each work. Learn about the process of creating the ‘mothering plates’, new work made specifically for this exhibition, in partnership with her 6-year-old daughter. Discover how Serena is reworking the narrative of the menopause, transforming it from a tale of loss and decline into something new.
