A weekly 6-part evening course designed for potters of any ability. Whether you’re looking to get a taste of working with clay or have some existing knowledge, this course will give you the chance to develop your creative potential.
Through specific guided projects you will explore different ways to hand-build with clay. You will learn pinch, coiling and slab-building techniques and bring your work to life with decorative slips and glazes.
Sessions take place on Monday evenings, 6 pm – 8.30 pm.
This mixed-ability pottery class takes part over 6 consecutive weeks, starting on 6 November.
The course fee includes all clay, plus glazing and firing.
Meet the Tutor
Rachel Wood
Rachel Wood is a ceramicist who works from her Harley Foundation studio on the Welbeck estate in Nottinghamshire.
Her tactile ceramics are directly inspired by the colours, shapes and textures observed in the natural landscape, notably from local Derbyshire, and also from residencies in Australia. She decorates her pots with layers of slips and glazes to appear like painted landscapes.
She exhibits internationally and has taught at Nottingham Trent University, La Meridiana International School of Ceramics, Rufford Craft Centre, Sturt Craft Centre, and Kunst-Handwerk-Wein School of Ceramics.
