Join us for a museum walk and talk with Sarah Freeman and Jennifer Young, picture conservators from Mark Roberts Conservation.
Sarah and Jennifer will take you on a guided tour of the museum, speaking about their fascinating conservation work on Unseen Treasures. They will be talking about paintings by Sir Anthony Van Dyck, Cornelius Johnson and more.
They will discuss the process of conserving a painting, from removing yellowed varnish to fixing flaking paint.
Sarah Freeman ACR
Sarah is the Head Conservator-Restorer at Mark Roberts Conservation Ltd, where she has worked since 2014.
Following her graduation from University College London and the Courtauld Institute of Art, she completed a six-month internship at Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg in Maastricht, Netherlands. She also worked in Mumbai, completing the final stages of conservation on The Sword of Damocles by Antoine Dubost.
Jennifer Young
Jennifer is a Conservator at Mark Roberts Conservation Ltd, where she has worked since 2022.
She graduated from the University of Northumbria with an MA in Conservation of Easel Paintings, before working as a painting conservator in the Netherlands for five years. Here, she gained experience conserving seventeenth century Dutch art and twentieth century art.
