Spend an afternoon working with professional artist Laura Baxter and learn the technique of sand casting using found materials and molten pewter.
In this workshop, young people aged 11-16 will learn the traditional jewellery technique of sand casting.
The session will begin with a guided walk through the picturesque Welbeck Estate. Along the way, you’ll collect leaves, twigs, flowers, and other natural treasures – each one a potential imprint for your design. Back in the Education studio, you’ll press your findings into sand to create a unique mould, ready for molten pewter to be poured, transforming your impression into a metal keepsake.
The Harley Young Artists series gives young people a chance to work with professional artists. It is an opportunity to develop skills and gain an insight into a range of creative careers.
