Talk: A Sculptor's Story

28 March 2025

Join us for a talk with sculptor Phil Neal, as he charts his eclectic and unusual career journey.

From facial prosthetics to Formula 1, to monster-making for Doctor Who, Phil’s career proves that there is no one way to get where you want to go. Now a freelance sculptor working from the Harley Studios, Phil draws on his diverse experiences to create innovative sculptures, memorials, musical instruments and more.

Accompanied by a slideshow and sample creations, this talk will offer insights into how Phil has transferred and applied his varied skills to art, with plenty of time for your burning questions!

On arrival, please park in the main car park and check in for the talk at the Portland Collection Museum, where you will be given directions to walk to our Education Studio. It is an easy 5-minute walk, but if you have any accessibility requirements please get in touch before booking.

This talk takes place on a Studio Discovery Day, an exciting programme of studio tours, demonstrations, talks and creative workshops with the Harley Studio Artists. Make sure to check out the full programme of events here.
